After a three year haitus, New Year/New Start will be making a cautious return come January.
Yep, our Dugong-inspired all-dayer will once again aim to start the new year off with some much needed ROCK come January 15th. The line-up will include the "new blood" on the label as well as a few old Leeds scene die-hard's and some friends from further afield. Balancing the line-up is always tricky, especially with 6 active bands on the label, but hopefully we've managed just enough variation to allow each band room to breathe.
The line up is 90% sorted and will be announced in full in good time. In the meantime I'm happy to confirm the following:
THE DAUNTLESS ELITE
Seems redundant mentioning their previous bands now... You know who they are. Releases on Plan-it-X, Snuffy Smile, Yo Yo and Bombed Out. I've heard their next album is coming together nicely.ATTACK! VIPERS!
South Coast celebrity hardcore with twinkly bits, metallic bits, screams and hearts of fucking gold. Releases out on Yo Yo Records, We Heart Records and Rat Patrol. One of the best live bands around right now.PEACHFUZZ
Replacements/Soul Asylum/Buffalo Tom style indie-rock from Wales. New album is a corker... And a concept album. Who knew.PROTECTORS
Ex-members of Dugong, Pylon and Nathaniel Green play upbeat indie-pop in a Superchunk meets Guided By Voices kinda way. Their alter-ego band did that Cappelo song.HOMEBREW
Cider-fueled, shout-along street-punk from North Yorkshire featuring the mouthy one from The Dauntless Elite. Legends in their own lifetime.THE BETTER END
Ex-members of The Leif Ericsson/Grover/shit loads of other bands playing great, old fashioned melodic punk rock.Keep checking back for more news on this. We should also have a lovely poster for the event soon courtesy of all-round gent, Joe Watson of Attack! Vipers! / Vision Incision.
Oh, and if Facebook is your bag then feel free to register your interest at our New Year / New Start event page.
