Following on from The Amistad and Peachfuzz, we'd like to formally welcome our third new band to the Bombed Out stable this year: Zapiain.
Zapiain have been playing in and around Leeds since mid-2006 and, having self-released 2 great little EPs (2007's ERM... and 2009's Wrong In Our Own Way), earlier this year decided it was time to assemble their debut full-length: Jibberjabber (whether this is a reference to Chris' lyrics is unconfirmed).
Recorded at Soundstation Studios during the 2010 World Cup, the band definitely did a lot better than the England team did. With long-time Bombed Out collaborator Mark Sturgess (The Amistad, Fig. 4.0, The Dauntless Elite, Dugong etc.) twiddling the knobs it's no surprise that Jibberjabber retains that distinctly British punk rock sound while Chris' melancholic vocals bring to mind Jawbreaker, Blueline Medic or, at times, Face To Face. You can hear a handful of tracks from the album by pointing your browser to the Jibberjabber page here.
The album should be out around about January 2011 and will be a co-release with John from x1984x Zine's Tennessee based record label, Unsane Asylum.
We're definitely happy to be working with another Leeds-based band again (well, OK, Dewsbury-based, but close enough) and having already shared more than a few beers with the band I can honestly say they'll fit right in on Bombed Out!
