It’s that time of the (new) year again and we’re proud to announce the details for NYNS2006!
Venue, as always, is Joseph’s Well in Leeds. For info and directions please visit www.josephswell.co.uk. Doors should open around 2pm and it’ll be just £6 in (50p per band can’t be bad!).
In no particular order we’ll have….
The City Ghosts
Fantastic folk/indie/rock/punk/pop from Hull. Greg used to be in Freaks Union but has now teamed up with his sister and friends to bring out something more melodic.
MySpaceDartz!
"Skittering pop pitched somewhere between Futureheads and the best of DC's early Eighties go-go/hardcore crossover scene..." Yep, that’ll do.
MyspaceThe Dauntless Elite
These guys should need no introduction and should no longer require the “ex-Joe Ninety, ex-Fig. 4.0” tag that still crops up everywhere. Oops! Oh well, tuneful, political punk-rock that sits somewhere between The Broadways and Against Me! On Plan-It-X Records.
WebsiteFuck With Fire
Favourites of the Harrogate Hardcore scene, Fuck With Fire play hardcore in the vein of those recent Jade Tree bands… Think Trial By Fire.
The Great St. Louis
Anthemic tunes from the Social Distortion / Hot Water Music / Leatherface school of impassioned punk rock.
WebsiteThe Leif Ericsson
A band who feel like they’ve been part of the Bombed Out family for years now despite the fact that we’ve yet to get an album out of them! Hah. Ace as hell, UK sing-along punk rock with a strong Snuff leaning.
WebsiteMansions of Glory
Straight up punk rock that leans heavily towards the rock end of the spectrum. A slight DC nod gets them Hot Snakes comparisons that are entirely justified.
MySpaceThe Mercury League
One of the best live bands around at the moment – The Mercury League play ace-as-hell melodic hardcore in the Rise Against / Trial By Fire mould and they do it fucking well. They’ve a new album out which comes recommended.
WebsiteThe Mercy Suite
More Bombed Out stalwarts who’ll hopefully have their debut full-length, Crestfallen, released in time for this event. Fast, melodic and a little metallic, The Mercy Suite are a force to be reckoned with and 2006 will hopefully be their year.
WebsiteRuin You!
All-star hardcore band featuring Joe (Jets Vs Sharks), Tim (Jets Vs Sharks, You Me And The Atom Bomb), Lloyd (Blocko) and Dan (You, Me And The Atom Bomb). This is their first time in Leeds and it’s gonna be special.
MySpaceThe SWord
Having released one of the best albums of 2005, The SWord are onto a bit of a winner… ex-Dugong and Joe Ninety folk playing straight-up UK punk rock that’s tuneful as hell.
MySpaceWritten From Negative
Fantastically discordant yet melodic dance-rock (with a punk-rock soul) from Sunderland who blew us away at last years NYNS so much we invited them back. They’ve a new EP out on Company With The Golden Arm that deserves your attention!
WebsiteYou, Me And The Atom Bomb
Fast punk rock from the South Coast that comes across like a cross between The Broadways and Propagandhi. Political, tuneful and ace and featuring current Jets Vs Sharks and ex-When All Else Fails members.
