The end of The Leif Ericsson

Gutted to say that after a long spell of inactivity The Leif Ericsson have now formally called it a day. They leave behind them one hell of an album, a split album with Milloy and split 7's with Southport and Beecher, as well as a few tour EPs that you'd do well to track down (I'll see if the lads will let me put them up for download here soon).
We wish Will, Neil, Mark and Dave all the best for the future and keep an eye out for Neil's new band, The Better End, which also feature ex-Grover bods.

Oh, and they look like this:
Expect them to land before the end of the month so we'll ship out all orders the first week of June.

Leif tour and new release news

The Leif Ericsson are heading out for a bunch of gigs between now and the end of July (I've updated the gigs listing now). They'll hopefully be taking with them a load of 12” picture-disc copies of their self-titled album which we're about to get pressed. We’ll let you know once they’re pressed as we’ll have some available here via our web-shop.
Also on the release front, Roadkill Records are releasing a split single featuring 2 new Leif tracks and 2 tracks from Southport that were going to be on Southport's 2nd album (that never happened). Rumours are that Southport may even materialise live at one or two of the aforementioned Lief gigs!
Following this slew of live-ness The Leif Ericsson will be taking things easy while they work on album number 2!

The self-titled debut album from The Leif Ericsson will be shipping today for those who have pre-ordered. Believe me it will knock you dead!
The band recently got back from a 2nd tour of Japan and played a blinder at New Year / New Start a couple of weeks ago. They’ve a few other gigs in the pipeline so make sure you catch them live if they visit your town!

Despite the song title "Twelve Years in the Making", The Leif Ericsson's debut album hasn't quite taken that long.
All that becomes a mute piont though the second their self-titled release kicks in with "Fetch the Noose" - a classic track that was previewed on the band's Japanese-only tour EP from earlier in 2006.
The Leif Ericsson are steeped in UK punk-rock history - obvious comparisons may come from references to Snuff or Leatherface but you could just as easily reference Blitz, Cock Sparrer or even The Clash when discussing their influences. The Snuff comparison gains greater ground though when you acknowledge that singer/guitarist Will Farley also moonlight's in Duncan Redmond's Billy No Mates.
The UK version of the album should be pressed and ready in time for the band's appearence at the New Year / New Start all-dayer on the 17th February. A Japanese version will also be avaliable then via CR Records of Japan.
