The Magnificent - 1981 7"

Drunken Sailor Records

£3.00

Awesome new single from Leeds' The Magnificent (ex-members of Eighty Six, Buzzkill and more). The Magnificent are a punk rock trio from the North of England. They sing about stuff that affects their lives. Important things like coal mining, Royal Weddings, the decline of modern civilisation, cutting down trees, playing squash and being in love. Their sound has been compared to Pinhead Gunpowder, The Replacements, Billy Bragg, The Clash, Rancid, Stiff Little Fingers and Social Distortion. ‘1981’ comes out on April 29th 2011, the day of the Royal Wedding. The new single was recorded in Chicago with Jeff Dean (from the Bomb) in November 2010. ‘1981’ is a song about how a generation struggles to emulate the feats of their parents, ‘the baby boomers’. Everyone is poor these days and everyone struggles to meet the cost of living. The song is about being born into a world ruled by economics that no-one truly understands or has control of.
